Chest measurement is taken under the arms around the widest part of the chest.
For the best fit, your child's chest measurement should be equal to or less than the measurement noted above. Waist measurement is taken just above the belly button.

I bought these shorts for a hot holiday for when my baby turns 6 months old. The waist band is already tight on her and she’s only 4 months. She is a little bigger than average which is why I bought 6-12 months but she won’t even have a chance to wear these. The band is the sort that is thick and doesn’t have a ton of stretch, so I didn’t want to force them on her. I was sad it didn’t work out, as I bought multiple pairs.
