Chest measurement is taken under the arms around the widest part of the chest.
For the best fit, your child's chest measurement should be equal to or less than the measurement noted above. Waist measurement is taken just above the belly button.
Elastic waist is great for my son and they are nice and comfy too.

These are a nice durable material that I know we’ll get lots of rough and tumble wear out of. My son is on the taller side for 18 months old and I need to cuff the pants but I’m very happy I’ll get some long wear out of these!

My older boys have been wearing the baggy empyre cords for awhile. These allow my youngest to be comfy while looking like the older bros:) These cords are my youngest small humans favourite pants! He would wear them everyday and I wish you had in more colours and that I had bought multiples.

These aren’t really what I expected. They have a lot of potential. The colour is perfect, and the black & white cord on the waist is really cute, but the fit isn’t great and the fabric isn’t a typical corduroy. It’s a bit stiff and each cord is almost furry. I’m not sure how to describe it but we love a brown corduroy and have owned many pairs from many brands and I’ve never seen corduroy like this fabric. I’d recommend trying them out because they make work better for you than us, but we won’t be buying these cords again. Usually Whistle & Flute is a buy in every size brand for us.
